Ryu Yo-An

Lee Jeong-Sang
Abstract
The ¡®Clean and clear label¡¯ movement, which began in UK, is expanding not only in Europe but all over the world, creating a new market for the agricultural food industry. The clean label proved its positive effect on consumers¡¯ purchasing behavior, which also suggests that consumer¡¯s health concerns strongly link to food purchase trends. The concept of clean labels, however, is ambiguous in each country, and there is a lot of confusion among consumers, as well as food manufacturers and distributors. Many experts strongly urge that the common standards of clean labels be established as soon as possible. In this situation, the standards of clean labels adopted by the UK and the EU can be a good example for us. To share various implications expected through the clean label movement. we will look at various agricultural food consumption trends triggered by the clean label movement along with clean label regulations in the UK and the EU, providing useful information to the researchers involved and the companies in exporting our agricultural products.
